Style.

Each photographer develops their own style whilst building their portfolio of work. How does this sit with you ? Do you like the filters? The posed photos? The candid shots?

is the overall finished product something you will be happy with for a lifetime?

Experience.

Has your venue recommend them?

Do they have experience at your particular venue?

How many Weddings have they photographed: Weddings are incredibly different to portraiture or styled shoots. You have to be readily able to capture moving subjects in all conditions.

Testimonials.

Have they come highly recommended?

Do they have accolades?

Read previous client references; see their reviews, what did they focus on?

Trust.

How do do you feel when you meet this person?

When you ask them questions, how do they respond? Do you feel at ease? Do you feel like you’ve really bonded enough to be able to say what you want on your Wedding day?

After considering all of this go with your instincts - if you get a good feeling and vibes about a photograther; the chances are you have found the one.

Other points for consideration:

• backup plan if your photographer is unwell.

• meet more than one: shop around

• cheap isn’t always cheerful, be careful of going for what’s the least expensive - it’s a false economy.
