We have been to the Edgbaston a few times now, having discovered it as a cocktail bar, and immediately falling in love with the overall experience. So it was the obvious choice to celebrate me winning “UK’s Top Wedding Coordinator of the year”; it was impromptu to make it an overnight stay, which happened to coincide with the opening of the new guest rooms.

We arranged the booking and the Manager, Sarah, could not have been more helpful and accommodating, ensuring we had all the information we needed, and organised a table for us for drinks that evening. It is worth noting that if you plan to go here for drinks, you should book. The staff do a great job of managing the capacity of the bar, so that it is never overcrowded, yet has a great atmosphere. You won’t ever experience people pushing into you, or four deep queues at the bar, instead experiencing the most attentive, helpful, knowledgeable members of staff you could imagine.

As soon as you enter the bar, you feel special. The décor, the beautiful chandeliers, the immaculately kept and well-stocked bar, and the well dressed, smart bartenders and waiting staff. The experience doesn’t stop there, as you are shown to your table the staff bring complimentary water and explain the extensive cocktail menu, helping you make a choice of tipple.

The cocktails are then promptly prepared with all the flair you would expect, and great engagement with the patrons too. There are some really extravagant drinks that you can choose from, and on this occasion, some festive specials including a hot toddy that was set alight, and poured in a spectacular flume of flames, worth ordering just for the exhibition.
Another festive addition, which we hope will last into the New Year, is the outside seating area, which is now under a large canopy, with the outdoor seating covered in fur blankets and surrounded with flaming bowls, to accompany the typical outside heaters, all lit in purple to provide a very cosy space to enjoy.
We also ordered some food from the snack menu; quickly prepared, good size portions, well presented and tasty. Whilst there is only a limited menu, the drinks really are centre stage here, and it is right therefore that the main purpose of the visit isn’t overshadowed.

After we’d had enough cocktails to make our heads spin, we walked across the car park to the new accommodation block. No expense has been spared here to copy the signature décor of the main building, with the beautiful and decadent art deco theme throughout. The rooms are fantastic. A real wow factor when walking in; with beautiful roll top baths in the bedroom, in addition to a fully appointed bathroom with walk-in shower.

The rooms have everything you could ask for; from robes and slippers, to a well stocked mini bar (not that we could entertain that thought after the night of drinking!). Elemis toiletries, which you have not tried, shame on you as they are a delight! A Nespresso coffee machine, iron and ironing board, an abundance of USB charging in the lamp station and free Wifi. However we couldn’t wait to jump into the bath and unwind before collapsing into the large, comfy bed for a good nights sleep to round off the perfect evening.

There was a good selection at breakfast (continental) and we were greeted by more attentive staff; check out was pleasant and swift.

Overall a faultless stay, that has cemented The Edgbaston as our number one destination for celebrations.
